Utilizing Natural Weight Loss Food: How To Up Your Protein

Cottage cheese is one great option — it’s high in protein, plus extra amounts of calcium to keep your bones strong. Don’t be afraid to spice it up – some people like it with fruit, while others prefer a more savory route with cayenne pepper.

hummusYou keep a busy schedule — so how do you make sure your nutrition doesn’t take a dive because of it? Bring protein on your travels with you.  Try having a snack pack of hummus with rice crackers (we promise, they’re tastier than they sound) or zucchini sticks. Another high energy option is a hardboiled egg (make sure it’s already peeled!). These are low in calories, high in protein, and full of vitamins.

You may not think fruits provide much protein, but some options do! Try dried apricots, raisins, and dates – you can take these with you to snack on all day!

Even simple toast with nut butter is a good option that you can eat at all times of the day. You can also choose to pair fruits with almond butter or a Greek yogurt dip to increase the protein levels – get creative!

Kefir_proteinOne really easy way to add protein into your diet is with kefir. Kefir is similar to yogurt- but drinkable, with extra probiotics for your digestive system and a good amount of protein!

And of course, the easiest way to up your protein is to use protein powder. Find a high quality powder and add it to your weight loss smoothies. Once you’ve gotten the hang of that, don’t stop with smoothies! You can add protein powder to waffles, pancakes, and even cookies or brownies – nearly any baked item. If you’re going to treat yourself, you can at least make it a little healthier, right?
