We know you keep a busy schedule—so how can you make sure your daily nutrition doesn’t take a dive because of it? Healthy snacks on the go—that’s how! They will help to keep you on track and provide much needed energy to get you through the day. Looking for some extra energy while on the go? Check out the best snacks out there!
Do you need extra energy? Think protein for your snack. Try having a snack pack of hummus with rice crackers (we promise, they’re tastier than they sound) or zucchini sticks. Cottage cheese is another great option – it’s high in protein, plus extra amounts of calcium. Another high energy option is a hardboiled egg (make sure it’s already peeled!). These are low in calories, high in protein, and full of vitamins.
Tropical fruits are also a good call to boost your energy – and they’ll make you think you’re on a mini-vacation! (Think pineapple and papaya for two examples.) Slice and eat plain – or try them dusted with a little chili and lime!
If your kids enjoy peanut butter and banana sandwiches, you can have the grown up version for yourself! Bring along a banana, and a single serving pack of peanut butter – or even better, almond butter. (Other fruit with peanut or almond butter is good too – we suggest apples, and pears for their high fiber.)
String cheese, sunflower seeds, and a protein shake (or bar) are other healthy favorites of ours. Protein isn’t just for when you want to get super bulky – it can be an important part of weight loss too!
Sick of fruit? Freeze them! As long as you eat them before they’re fully thawed (but at least partially – your teeth will thank you), the experience is different. Try grapes in moderation, or any berry.
Have the ability to keep foods chilled? Store mini caprese salad “skewers” – put a cherry tomato, a cube of mozzarella, and a basil leaf on a toothpick. Feel free to drizzle with balsamic vinegar!
Don’t be afraid to mix it up – changing your snacks keeps you less likely to get bored and running to the closest fast food drive thru. We know the usual bag of carrots and ranch gets old – so try these healthy snacks on your busy days!
